For more than 20 years, Nadia has lived, worked, and served throughout Ward 4 as an educator, community leader, and problem solver. She began her teaching career at Parkdale Collegiate and taught at multiple schools across the ward, building lasting relationships with students, families, and neighbourhood organizations. Working in classrooms throughout Ward 4 gave her a front-row seat to the challenges residents face—from affordability and housing to access to public spaces and city services—and reinforced her belief that strong communities are built through collaboration.
With degrees in Urban Geography and an MBA, Nadia has built her career around delivering practical solutions in health, education, and community services.
She launched the Centre for Healthy Communities, an applied research centre focused on social innovation, bringing together educators, healthcare providers, employers, researchers, and community organizations to improve health, education, and community wellbeing.
She has also served in governance roles across community health and the arts, helping strengthen partnerships and support integrated, evidence-informed decision-making.
Nadia also founded Orwell Art, an educational initiative that inspires civic engagement and critical thinking through the arts. She developed nationally recognized educational resources on the Ukrainian Holodomor, now used in classrooms across Canada, and led an urban gardening initiative that brought together students, seniors, and local organizations to address food insecurity while strengthening neighbourhood connections.
Whether in the classroom, the boardroom, or the community, Nadia has built her career by bringing people together to solve problems. She believes City Hall works best when it listens to the people it serves, focuses on practical solutions, and delivers results that improve everyday life.
Nadia lives in Toronto’s with her wife, Lucy, and their dog, Duke Ellington.
